Vignette and tamper-evident labelling for the pharmaceutical industry


This system offers the highest technical standard combined with absolute security and reliability in accordance with GAMP guidelines for labelling folding boxes. Superb labelling accuracy at the highest speed is achieved via precise product guiding. Furthermore, this system offers maximum flexibility and ease of use as it is operated from one side.

Basic system

The basic version of the Pagopharma System P580 comprises a stainless steel base frame with protective housing, stainless steel electrical cabinet, infeed belt, clocked (intermittent) infeed station, product hold-down device, cam belt conveyors, side conveyor belts, upper retaining band, operating panel with central control of the system and the Pagomats, transfer belts, two Pagomats 6/2 with suspension brackets for tamper-evident labelling as well as one Pagomat 6/2 with suspension bracket for vignette labelling.
All adjustment devices are equipped with digital position displays and scaled mandrels for reproducible setups.
 

Security and reliability

Security and reliability is ensured through register tracking, “failsafe“ and “positive logic“ programming as well as control and security options specifically for the pharmaceutical industry.

The “failsafe“ programming ensures fault-free functioning of all sensors and control units. Should a sensor fail, the system will stop and issue an error message for that particular sensor. 

The “positive logic“ programming of control units ensures that every defective product or label is detected.
The “positive logic“ programming also supports all control units by initially setting their output signals to negative. In essence, each control unit assumes that the next product or label is faulty.
Hence, each control unit must deem the product or label to be good for the output signal to be set to positive. Only when all control unit output signals are positive will the product or label be classed as good.

Generally, reliable product guidance by the carrier belt, including upper retaining band and side belts, provides a large degree of security. The product is securely guided and tracked via an electronic register. The register is established via product sensing and implemented using software. Certain security requirements, such as the ejector station, could not be met until register tracking was introduced.

Using camera systems and other control devices, customised product security can be even further increased.


Precise product guidance for the highest labelling accuracy

Folding boxes are securely taken up by the clocked (intermittent) infeed station, transferred to the carrier belt and precisely aligned. The carrier belt, which is comprised of cam belts, together with product guidance by means of side belts and upper retaining band ensure the folding box is reliably positioned during labelling. The dispensing speed of the Pagomat 6/2 is precisely synchronised with the speed of the carrier belt, ensuring excellent labelling results even at high speed.


Maximum flexibility

This Pagopharma System offers the flexibility required to handle small batches with frequent product changeovers whist ensuring high performance and short changeover times. Product transport using split carrier belts (available in various splits) allows for a large range of sizes of folding boxes for labelling. The various folding box widths can be easily and centrally set via handwheel. This helps keep changeover times to a minimum.


Ease of use with operation from one side

Vertical mounting of all three Pagomats and the resultant slim machine design supports single-sided access. This means the system can be perfectly integrated into production lines where the workflow, from primary to final packaging, is geared towards one operating side. The front automatic tamper-evident labeller can be tilted by 90 degrees. This allows easy access, straightforward reel changes and fast and convenient changeovers for all three automatic labellers from one side – assuring real time-savings during product and batch changeovers. No tools are required for changeover. Spindle adjustments with digital displays on the automatic labellers enable precise horizontal and vertical setup and therefore perfect reproducibility of production settings.
