Technology

State-of-the-art printing technologies and modern process organisation make Pago a strong, reliable partner. Whether it be in the field of printing, labelling technology or goods flow control – Pago has the latest technologies for developing and implementing customised solutions.

Prepress – turning ideas into labels
As the interface between data delivery and printing, prepress is vital for the quality of the labels. Printing and graphics specialists ensure that strong ideas are turned into unique labels.

Prepress
Labels are designed and processed according to the customer’s specification using powerful computer systems. High-resolution proof printers are used to create colour-consistent raster printouts. For every substrate/printing machine combination, there are specific Pago printing characteristics which are precisely maintained in order to guarantee maximum print quality during film/plate exposure.

Colour mixing
Pago has its own stock of colours comprising several thousand standard and customer colours which allows a high degree of flexibility in label production. Colour mixtures for short-run jobs and colour corrections for printing approval can be effected immediately. The right inks and varnishes are identified for every job according to the printing process, materials and customer requirements. Specialists assess the formulas using a computer-aided ink mixing system and high-precision scales, then document them for subsequent orders.

Printing form and die cutter manufacture
Pago manufactures printing plates and screens in-house using computer-to-plate technology (CTP) and builds its own high-quality die cutters. This guarantees fast and flexible label production.

Printing form preparation

The utmost care is taken when mounting the clichés onto the print cylinders in order to guarantee optimal print quality.

Printing – label specialities in continuous production
With more than 60 printing machines, the Pago Group has a machine park that can handle customer requirements of any kind. Pago uses all known printing and coating techniques which means we can cover the full range of label printing options. We select the appropriate printing process and machine according to the project in order to achieve optimum results with the best price/performance ratio. We also have our own maintenance workshop to ensure printing operations run smoothly.

Roll-fed printing
Label printers produce customised self-adhesive labels and sleeves on rolls. To achieve special results, different printing techniques are combined and various coating techniques are used. The majority of the machines are equipped with between 5 and 12 printing units. To ensure a high degree of flexibility, production runs on a multi-shift basis. In line with the back-up policy, Pago Germany has a very similar machine park.

Digital printing
Digital printing machines are used to print multi-colour labels in offset quality directly from digital data – without printing plates. The digital printing process is used mainly for shorter print runs, personalised labels and frequently changing motifs.

Sheet-fed printing
Multi-page leaflets for Pagomedia self-adhesive labels as well as all kinds of sheet-fed labels and printed matter are printed on plastic, paper, cardboard and self-adhesive materials using the sheet-fed offset process.

Label finishing

Experts use special machines to cut, fold, groove or slit the labels after printing.

Process management
State-of-the-art IT and EDP systems enable reliable and efficient process organisation and data management. By networking its various sites, Pago guarantees its customers the highest delivery reliability.
