United Drug invests at TD Packaging, increasing capacity with 2 new PAGOsystem 120
TD Packaging, a well established, reputable contract packing company, part of the United Drug PLC, have consistently purchased labelling equipment from Pago Ltd in Colchester, faciliating applications for self adhesive labels to vials, bottles and jars, applying wraparound, single or double sided, multi-peel or vignette labels, covering all their customers requirements.
They are well known in the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets, providing packaging solutions for the past decade through their reliable and versatile machinery and 17 packaging lines which are able to provide specific production conditions. TD Packaging can put custom pack designs into production for a wide variety of goods and have organised their production to fully utilise their Pago machines in the most efficient way.
These Pago labelling systems are to apply a range of front, back and wrap around labels to a variety of containers at an output of up to 100 containers per minute depending on label and container size. They incorporate the new upgraded Pagomat 6/2 labelling heads which are capable of applying labels with web widths up to 170mm.
The conveyor speed of the labeller will range from 8 metres to 35 metres per minute.The direction of container flow is from left to right, with the main control box mounting pillar being positioned to the rear of the machine, at the outfeed end.
All Pago machines have a substantial body, constructed with stainless steel end plates and covers supporting an aluminium top plate that, in turn, is covered with a stainless steel cover. Enclosed within the body is the main 0.75 kW AC drive unit, with all the connecting drives by high quality timing belts. Amply rated bearings, bushes and fixtures are specified throughout.
A rotary pitching mechanism, chain orientation mechanism and top hold assembly ensure the labels are applied to the containers accurately using the Pagomat labelling units mounted to the front and rear of the machine.
PAGOsystems can be adapted to the customer’s own specific needs, therefore highly economical applicators can be created in this way to enable a wide range of possible container shapes to be labelled.
